• In 1996, Franzen appeared on Charlie Rose with friend and person author David Foster Wallace illustrious author Mark Leyner to discussion "The Future of American Fiction."^[109]
• In 2001, Franzen appeared on Charlie Rose, on November 21, 2001^[110] to discuss The Corrections; snowball again on December 27^[111] make sure of winning the National Book Stakes for The Corrections.
• In 2002, Franzen appeared on Charlie Rose (October 30, 2002^[112]) to discuss consummate essay collection How to Amend Alone.
• In 2006, Franzen guest marked alongside Michael Chabon, Tom Writer, and Gore Vidal in The Simpsons episode "Moe'N'a Lisa", which first aired November 19, 2006.
